The holidays are everyone’s favourite time of year. It’s a time of goodwill and giving.
But over the years, our habits of celebrating with special food and drink, decorations, and extravagantly packaged and wrapped gifts have meant that the season of giving has come to take a lot from the planet.
As the climate crisis worsens year on year, it can be easy to forget the impact our consumer choices have on the planet as we find ourselves caught up in the festive spirit.
Research from WRAP shows the average household produces 115kg of waste each Christmas.
Whether it’s the plastic containers on our favourite festive food and drink, the excessive packaging on deliveries, or wrapping paper that lasts just a few moments under the tree but years in a landfill. Christmas seems to have turned into the most wasteful time of the year.
But it’s never too late to start a new Christmas tradition.
Choosing to shop green means that you can make Christmas both special and sustainable, by opting for eco friendly brands like Panda London.
We’re dreaming of a GREEN Christmas!

It’s the most wasteful time, of the year…
Bottles
Over 750 million bottles go to waste each Christmas.
Say no to single-use containers and go green.
Wrapping Paper
A huge 87 square kilometres of wrapping paper ends up in the bin every Christmas in the UK. Panda are helping to offset this by using 100% recycled biodegradable Kraft paper.
Plastic Packaging
Plastics are for life, not just for Christmas. They won’t biodegrade once the 12 days are over. The average household produces almost 5 kg of plastic waste every Christmas. Choose sustainable packaging materials instead.

A greener planet is a cleaner planet.
We consider the environment with every decision made at Panda. Designing quality products which last, ensures fewer materials end up in landfills. Choosing environmentally friendly solutions such as bamboo & kraft paper is not a hassle. It’s at the very core of our DNA and aligns to our beliefs. To achieve a greener supply chain, we have introduced The Panda Recycle Program this gives our products a greener lifespan and is a free solution for disposal.
Fast Growing
Firstly, bamboo is one of the fastest and densely growing plants with excellent yield per acre.
Self-Propagates
Because the bamboo plants extensive root network self-propagates, this means that the plant does not need replanting once harvested.
Uses Fewer Resources
Bamboo requires 1/3 the amount of water compared to cotton.
Bamboo, Oxygen & the Environment
The Bamboo plants absorb Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and release Oxygen (O2) into the atmosphere, helping to reduce greenhouse gasses. Bamboo absorbs more Carbon Dioxide and releases more Oxygen into the atmosphere in comparison to trees.
No Harmful Pesticides Required
Bamboo does not require any pesticides or fertilizers to grow.
All packaging is made from 100% recycled materials. Pulp is made from long virgin fibres of maritime pine which are not bleached, which results in minimal chemical processing. This method is what gives the paper it’s unique colour while retaining the natural wood texture.
Biodegradable
Kraft paper is 100% biodegradable. Kraft paper decomposes naturally, returning to its natural form of cellulose fibres which can be fully assimilated back into its natural environment with no impact on the surrounding wildlife.
Compostable
The kraft paper we use is a compostable material and is capable of disintegrating into natural elements in a compost environment, leaving no toxicity in the soil.
Recycled and Recyclable
Because our kraft paper packaging is made from 100% recycled materials it’s easily recycled. We ask that all our customers dispose of their Panda items (including packaging) safely. If you are not sure how to recycle any of our items properly, get in contact to learn about the Panda Recycle Program.
Our Responsibility
Above all as a company, we aim to use as little plastic as possible and constantly seek alternatives which can help us reduce our ecological footprint.
LDPE Plastic
When required for hygiene purposes, we use polyethylene plastic which is easier on the environment as it can be combusted and the energy from this is retrieved and reused (only carbon dioxide and pure water remains afterwards).
Bamboo can replace plastic
Instead of using plastic buttons for the 100% Bamboo Bedding Set, we use 100% bamboo wood. Above all, these are significantly better for the environment.
Low Emission Couriers
Therefore, inorder for us to achieve this we only work with certified low emission couriers.
